I believe there are many advantages and disadvantages to a Universal Health care system in the United States. One of the major issues concerning health care is the expense. Providing free health services to every American would be very costly. Taxes would also increase and medical providers income as well as businesses' would more than likely decrease. I think that the pay cut would be a huge disadvantage to medical doctors. Physicians in Germany and Japan reported that they are unable to benefit from any profit due to the fixed medical costs. Is health care a right or a privilege? Its difficult for me to say..I have so many different opinions on the subject!
I do believe that every child deserves the right to free medical care as well as the elderly. Medicare and Medicaid are wonderful government health agencies but they do not fully cover all medical necessities.
The government needs to figure out a solution towards fixing the health care problem and make it more affordable to Americans! I work part time at a family medical clinic and it breaks my heart seeing patients that can not afford to get an MRI or pay for their medication becuase the incusrance deductible has not been met. Americans deserve better!

I am sure that there were concerns when Medicare and Medicaid were developed. However, the benefits of a Universal Healthcare system outweigh the initial cost. It only makes sense that individuals who receive annual health care check ups would be healthier as they grow older. This could greatly decrease the medical expense associated with Medicare. Cancer, osteoporosis, dementia and many other diseases could be caught and treated earlier. This could decrease the cost of medical care in the future.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are two sides to the healthcare issue. Unfortunately I think our politicians have been so busy explaining the problems that they haven't been searching for a solution. I'm ready for excuses to stop and positive action to begin. I believe America can come up with a win/win situation for healthcare providers and patients.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. It amazes me to see the people who struggle to manage there health due to financial struggles. These days insurance doesn't really help esp. when sugeries and other expensive issues become involved. Something has got to be done about this issue!
